Nafugan is situated in Eastern Gambia, between Bakadaji and Basse, about 300 km from the capital Banjul. The village is poor and is desperate for help. SHHG-Belgium wants to sponsor a vegetable garden run by women. About 50 women will work in the garden. We want to start with a patch of 50 x 50 m, but would like to expand this to 500 x 500 m. Experts of the Ministry of Agriculture in Basse will be giving support this project. In the first instance the women who will work in this vegetable garden are looking to feed their families, but as the project grows they intend to sell part of the harvest. To start up this project the following is required: • wells have to be dug • a water tank and pipes for irrigation • a fence (to keep cows and goats out) • fertilizers • seeds All this requires money. We sincerely hope that we can count on your financial support.
